Who & what we are

We've had a number of issues at many races this season and we want to be overly clear on what riders should and should not do on race or practice day.

Here are some basic rules that all riders must follow:

* Must wear the following protective gear:

`Safety approved Helmet (I suggest Arai or a high end brand) No price is too steep when it comes to protecting yourself from head injuries.

`Boots above the ankle. NO TENNIS SHOES!

`Long sleeves

`Jeans are the minimum (prefer riding pants)

`Goggles or some type of eye protection
`Gloves

*Gear that is not required but recommended:

`Neck roll (Leatte brace)
`Chest protector
`Knee & elbow pads
`Knee braces *there is a huge difference between braces and just knee pads.
`Kidney belt

*Always attend riders meeting!

`If you do not attend the riders meeting you are violating our saftey rules. We cover very important safety issues and you put yourself as well as others at risk if you do not get this information.

`Always pay attention to where you are entering and exiting the track. No one should ever cut the track for any reason even on practice days. No going up the sides of jumps and absolutley no transferring from one section to another. This is a very risky action and will not be tolerated.

`Riders must know what each flag means. The green flag during a race is shown at the finish line on the first lap of any race. This means the race has officially started and there will not be a re-start.
The Yellow, or caution flag is shown when a rider is down or there is a saftey issue in a certain area on the track. Riders are to SLOW DOWN and only assume race speeds after being clear of the cautioned area. No jumping, no passing and no accelerated speeds in caution areas. When a rider is down flags will be waving clearly before entering the area where the rider is down. If there is a slick spot or something we are trying to make the riders aware of flags will be displayed but not in the air waving. This is a rare occasion but through this type of caution riders may keep speeds but we recommend using caution in these areas. Riders who violate any rule that is posted and discussed at the riders meeting will be disqualified for that particular moto. If a rider violates this rule a second time I will come talk to you myself and other actions will be taken. Your saftey is of the utmost importance to all of us here at D Track and we will let no one sacrifice the saftey of others.
White flag means you've got 1 lap to make any desisions about passing or getting passed and of coarse the checkered flag means your race is over. Red flag means...you guessed it the race has been stopped. A race is red flagged when a large percentage of racers go down on the start or in the first turn. This will be dispayed at the finish line and everyone should get back into the same gate and we'll do it all again. Red flag is also shown at the exit point after a race is over. The black flag is one not often used. But if you see it you've done something really wrong or your machine has become a saftey hazard. Hopefully we won't have to use this one.

*How the starting process goes:

*Come to the left side of the starting gate when it is time for your class to run. Listen for your number to be called. All classe run 2 races called moto's. When your called to the line on your first moto this is a computer picked order. First number called out gets first gate pick (his or her choice of starting positions) and so on. On your second moto this order will be in the finishing order of your first moto. You will be at the starting gate, near the first turn you will see a person with a board with a #2. This person is called the starter. They will point to each rider at the gate and you are to either tell him by nodding, that your ready or get your hand up high to signal you have a problem. If you do have a problem (usually fouled plug) we will give you a small amount of time to get it fixed. When everyone is ready the starter will flip the board to the #1 then a few seconds it will turn sideways. Seconds after going sideways the gate will drop so be ready!

*There is no ALCOHOL allowed on this property.
*Absolutley NO PIT RIDING! This means you ride to and from the track (Slowly) and that is it. No riding in the field at all. The only acception is if you are an adult and you have an ATV or golfcart type vehicle. And this must be riden at idle speed. NO KIDS ON THESE VEHICLES! Our track and facility is not a spread out area. So lets stay off the vehicles as much as possible.
*When a rider goes down we have very experienced saftey personel here to take care of them. Let them do their job. You should only go out onto the track if you are a parent or guardian, and even then you need to use good judgement and be aware of other riders when crossing. We understand your concerns for a friend but the best thing is to just let Diane and the flaggers take care of these situations and you can check on them after they are off of the track. There have been many times when people coming out to check on a downed rider have created more safety issues just by being out there.
* No vehicles in spectator areas or out on the track when racing or practicing is taking place. (including pedal bikes)
*If there is a problem between individuals on or off the track when it concerns racing or riding in anyway, bring it to Travis before it gets heated. We'll work it out not fight it out.
*Know when your race is up and be on time to the gate. Many classes are similar and it is easy to get confussed on which one you should be in. Try to make sure your clear on everything ahead of time. If you are confused about anything go to Travis at the start gate or Amanda in the bottom of the tower and we'll get you on track...no pun intended.
*We honestly are all like family here, actually the sport in general, but especially here at D Track. We want you to feel at home when you come to visit us. Don't be afraid to ask for help whether it's just figuring out what's going on or fixing your bike or quad. If your new and don't know anyone just go to the top of the tower or come see me and we'll find the help you need.
